Awesome! I've been thinking that an integration between WordPress and Steem makes a lot of sense, and voila, here it is!

I'll do some testing with my own WP site and report back with my findings. While my dev skills are pretty basic, I would love to help with tutorials/documentation. Let me know if you have any specific needs in that regard. Thanks!

A tutorial/documentation would be awesome ! I think that your own experience with the plugin would be useful for others. For instance if you can document the questions/problems you had and what was the solution. It could turn into some kind of FAQ, it would be very neat.

An installation tutorial might not be that needed because soon we'll be available on the official store, but a tutorial on how to configure it (where to find you private key etc) would be very useful !

Here's a getting started guide I created today as I got everything set up for myself. I went ahead and documented install along with setup and usage, since there's actually a pretty easy way to do it through the front end.

This was straightforward and worked as advertised. I made some notes about important limitations to understand at the end of my guide, which could be a good start for an FAQ.

I'll do more testing of complex posts soon.

Yeah that's great news for people who have a blog following. Hopefully it will translate into referring a lot of their visitors over to Steemit.

Cheetah and other initiatives like steemcleaner might definitely be a problem, but I confident that if you go to them first and be like "hey don't flag me I'm just duplicating my own content" it'll be fine.

That seems like a legit starting point.

Cheetah will probably tolerate it if both posts cross reference each other. For example, in Steemit: "A version of this post has also been published on my blog" and in your WP blog: "This post has also been published in Steemit"

Ideally, it could have the option to post to Steemit 7 days before it posts on the blog. I'd LOVE LOVE that feature. That's exactly what I'm already doing, but am doing it by hand.

You have a website that shows steemit posts with dates that say "2 years ago" when the website itself isnt even 2 years old! WTF show the actual DATE on the post!
WOW @ned should see how steemit posts now show up as Older than Steemit itself! maybe Fyrstikken really IS a time traveler to have a steemit post from 2 years ago when Steemit itself is less than 2 yers old still! :D And This has said 2 years old now for a few days so it must be OVER 2 years old by now if it was already 2 years old a few days or weeks ago actually, I had notcied this bug months ago honestly. I'm no blogger, in fact my Steemit posts have proven to be less than interesting to most, lol. But even I can see the utility in this. Gret idea, I hope to see it do it well.

I believe there is a story worth telling in all of us. Even though we can't all be full-time bloggers, journaling is a very healthy habit and sharing what we love is what makes life great imo :)

But yeah, STEEM is a place for everyone even if you're not "a blogger".

Definitely +1 that, Everyone has something to learn/show/tell to someone else. Even the simplest things :)

I've adopted the role of commenting. I spent an embarrassingly large percentage of my time as an adult on reddit and I commented almost exclusively, rather than posting.

Not to try to brag, but I made the Century Club pretty easily and without using any of the tricks that most people use to get there. I would just comment on what I found interesting and where I thought I had something worth saying.

I said all that to say this. In my experience, commenting adds real value to a community. Often times, good comments are what hook people into a subject. People want conversation, engagement, and relevant supplementary information to the post. It's inarguably a very large reason that reddit has done so well. And I'd argue that Steemit is woefully lacking in this area and would do well to repeat that particular success of reddit's.

In my admittedly limited experience here, there just isn't enough real conversation going on. I see many popular posts whose comment section is a barren wasteland. I see a lot of comment sections that consist of only a few, seemingly perfunctory, comments that consist of only two or three words without any real commentary.

I think that my contribution to the community here is to give people positive encouragement on their posts, to give them a feeling of accomplishment beyond just the Steem that they earn. And to make thoughtful, in depth commentary seem more normal to others who would mean to comment. To maybe help change what people around here think about commenting. That it's more than a means to scrape together a few pennies of Steem, but a rewarding part of the community in and of itself.

I couldn't agree with you more. It is not as much about content as it is about engagement in my view. People who create fruitful and productive conversations are the real value drivers to any website that relies on high time-on-site to be a success. Not to mention the community value when people come back to read comments and engage with users.

Right on. Steem is a great way to get people here but to get them to stay is going to take engagement.

They're going to have to want to come here to have something with more value than the little bit of Steem they can get. It certainly adds an extra element of fun, but not enough by itself.

People will figure out pretty quickly that the Steem isn't worth it if it just feels like you're at a sales convention where the conversations are all just a one way pitch with the occasional empty platitude.

This is a massive thing @howo . I'm so happy to hear about this. Coming from the blogging world it is a bit difficult to wrap my head around steemit. You are so right about onboarding new users in an easy way. There will be no disruption or learning curve for them. Further, i think they will use the plug in as an add on to their current methods and not worry so much about participating in the steemit community just to earn money. A real win win!

I agree. Any need to learn a whole lot about the Blockchain fundamentals and how STEEM works is a barrier to entry for a lot of potential users. We should do our best to lower it as much as possible to ensure that those who can benefit from STEEM can do so without needing to understand more than they have to, just like you shouldn't need to know code to use a computer.

Wow this is soo great. I love steemit. At first it was steemit, then dtube, dlive, dsound, dmania, steempress. This is awesome. And it's decentralized! It's completely free, and on top of all that you can even make money here!!!

STEEM is indeed a fantastic place, imo the best blockchain, to be for developers with new ideas for how to benefit from the blockchain online! Exciting times ahead :)

This is definitely something that I'll be working on in the future. markdown doesn't support image resizing and most of the time wordpress article have a fixed size for their images and it can cause the formatting to be broken when converted.

Awesome project. Wow. Might even get some eyeballs in the WordPress world checking out Steemit. Definitely need some way to list the content on different formats, or limit the list to 5 latest posts. Show only headlines, and other modules to place on the pages... etc.

This is a nice feature and great step for tying Steem into WordPress. I would most want to see Steem Connect integration to allow for working vote buttons, Steem based commenting, etc. from my own WordPress sites.
Rather than just copying content to the blockchain, I’m more intrigued by the possibilities of a plugin that pulls blockchain content as well, so that anyone with WordPress can create custom styled personal sites or curated topic specific community front ends that pull from Steem.

Those are very interesting ideas ! In the future we will probably experiment on some of those :)

I’d love to see a developer tackle it... I wish I had those skills! I’ve dabbled with the overall concept, but lacking the knowledge of how to pull blockchain content directly I simply wrapped articles within iFrames to mock up the concept. steemcomicconvention.com is me playing around with such a site, curating comics community content.

Have to be careful with wp plugins, putting too much on one ends up becoming a completely custom theme and install. Simple plugins for bloggers - ability to post from Wordpress, steemit feeds for Wordpress, woocommerce steem payment gateway. That’s 3 plugins, any more? I’d also be concerned steemit comments and votes might negatively impact optimisation on a Wordpress blog, that’s more for full on dApp ...

This is a great Project, really good idea which helps a lot of people share their articles. I'm a very newbie in the blogging world and I'm wondering about duplicate content for SEO you know.. By posting the exact same article you might penalise both of them in terms of visibility on Google. I'm curious.

Trying more alternatives and exploring new things really could help and assist us on what we are doing. I found this article so interesting and for sure this will be so helpful. Cool this!

I'm sorry about it, in the future it'll be a simple press of a button from the wordpress store. But for that we have to go through a review process (the wordpress people want to make sure that we aren't pushing something harmful ).

This looks to be an amazing project. I do have one concern. How will it prevent the @cheetah bot from viewing it as possible plagiarism?

Yes we've been thinking about that too. But since it is visible on the blockchain when a post is made using our plugin, just like it is visible if someone publishes from dtube or utopian, we could get where cheetah notices that a post has been posted via our plugin, and thus recognises it as original.

Otherwise, there are other benefits to uploading content to STEEM other than the extra rewards. So even if cheetah did flag it, the bloggers would still have an extra place to reach a new audience and store their content.

@fredrikaa are there any updates to the cheetah-issue already?

@atreyuserver The fact is that he planted this image in tens of blogs without any comment on the content the blogs. It looks like he came and sprayed graffiti everywhere.

Don’t get hung up on what the picture was. It’s spam, like much of the email you get. There is nothing relevant to any reader.

He has since removed all those offending posts so you can’t see them anymore.

It’s very disrespectful to the creator of the blog and to the other commentors who put a lot of effort into what they wrote.

If he would have replied “very sorry, I am new here, but now I have read the steemit guide to etiquette” I woud Have achieved something.

It’s like if a child kicks a ball through your window. You don’t give it back until he apologies.

Prior to spamming this, and many other blogs with this pointless photo, he had been warned TWICE by @spaminator that he would be flagged if he continued spamming like that. He chose to ignore those warnings. It’s like a child being told “Don’t throw stones in glass houses”, and he continues doing it.

Lastly, I did not give him a flag, - which he deserved. I did just a warning because he is from Venezuela, which is a very poor country. I don’t want to take away his chance of making money on steemit.

He deserved 100% flag, so the warning was just a shot across the bows to get his attention.

The guidance I gave him contains advice on how to avoid being flagged (similar to the two warnings he got from @spaminator), as well as guidance on how to make money from steemit in future.

I see his reply to that has been to slap me in the face by flagging me back at 100%. I don’t usually bother with flag wars since there are no winners, and he should learn that too.

I imagine he was very rude to his parents, showing no respect to them.

As you can see, I did a lot of homework, on this guy’s behaviour before deciding if he deserved a small flag, or just a warning. I also took the time to explain what he is doing wrong, and give him guidance on where to look to improve.

I would say the respect he got from me was appropriate. His behaviour was not.

@atreyuserver When you see flags or warnings you may often be right. It was maybe a knee jerk reaction from someone who is unthinking. In other cases the warner may have spent alot of time, like I did, investigating to decide if a flag was justified. I will be interested to hear if you still see it his way, or whether you now see my point of view.

@swissclive, Thanks for your response. I comment, I know Prof. Zonder Ramírez very well and I understand perfectly the pain that has happened. The reaction is because the little Sofia died a few months ago because of leukemia and the lack of medication in Venezuela and it was impossible for us to get the requirements for the wrong policies that are with the parcels to and from the country. From Uruguay, I recommended Prof. Zonder join the network to do some post to see how it was going, was to be distracted and to cope with the loss.
It is regrettable that actions are taken to the detriment without knowing the underlying causes.

The rules are very nice on paper, but I have observed in many posts that their authors ignore these rules. Many posts have a fatal colloquial language, a spelling and syntax that distorts the content, others plagiarize the contents of publications in other social networks and stop counting.
Here we have a saying: "what is good for the turkey is good for the turkey".

I was not judging the image you used. I was judging your lack of enagement and spamming the same thing everywhere.

The expression in Venezueala of “what’s good for the turkey is good for the turkey” does not allow you to do the same as others. They will also be stopped. You were caught. They will be next. Just because “everyone steals from walmart” does mean it is allowed, right or honest.

In other words, do not jutify your actions on the grounds that others get away with it.

By the way, the English expression is “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander”.

Wordpress is such a good CMS for begginers and it's probably not going to go away. If someone asks what's the best site to get, they're going to be told to get a Wordpress Theme or something like SquareSpace. This is an absolutely great idea to make sure the content has somewhere else to be backed up and it gives said content creators, more eyes on their content and brings more people onto Steemit.

I could rely on some cryptography to create a certificate to prove that a post comes from steempress and is not spam but it would require some work on their end and I'm not sure they are ready for that.

Plus people could just create a dummy wordpress website and spam through steempress :p

Fantastic work! I had created the SteemPress repository a few months back via Utopian but I never found any developers for it. Good to see you took over the job.

I think the most important feature for this plugin is the total takeover of wordpress and making it into a proper Steem website. So just posting to the blockchain is by far not enough. It should replace the comment section entirely and include SteemConnect and upvoting directly on the page. If you can pull this off than you have developed one of the most impactful tools for Steem!

I'm the founder of https://SteemThat.com and will be testing this plugin very soon. The only thing we are really missing is upvoting and commenting and resteeming... Looking forward to testing this out. I was watching the Original SteemPress and nada. No one has wanted to tackle a full integration on this level yet.

We allow members to publish On SteemThat and use a separate script to publish to Steemit. I'm interested in allowing our community to stay on our website and interact with the blockchain. Takeover Wordpress? Steemit does not have the scope or even the purpose of Wordpress websites. In a Wordpress website I decide the theme, the menus, the purpose. Wordpress is not just a blog. That is a minimal use of Wordpress. Wordpress has many functions. BTW, what is a proper Steem site? Could you provide a link to a "Steem site"? If there is such a thing as creating a Steem website, I would be interested. Being on a blockchain, I would not have to use a host for my website with it's online store, blog, sections for my book (pages that are not "lost" after a certain date), event calendar, registration, connections to PayPal and credit cards and cryptocurrency payment. Steem does all this?

INFORMING THE MASSES - A short list of some of the abuses against @Noganoo by Satanic whales on Steemit.

For those of you who are unaware @Noganoo was sexually abused when he was 5 years old. Bernie Sanders learned this from Fyrstikken whom Noganoo trusted and confided in and then was betrayed and slandered by Fyrstikken whom Noganoo brought to Steemit. Noganoo only requested that Fyrstikken send back the 10 Bitcoins he stole from SatoshiHorizon through his “altcoin investment fund.” Noganoo stood up against Bernie's flag abuse towards SeaBlue which caused the war that you are seeing today. Bernie swore to destroy Noganoo because Noganoo defended the helpless minnows on Steemit. Below are just a few of the terrible insults they have spoken against this Christian man. Please visit @Noganoo's blog and support and encourage him through these demonic attacks as his old friends have forsaken him. Not only do these people verbally attack Noganoo but they antagonize him until he responds in anger, then they sent the FBI to his house for "threatening." Noganoo has requested to all of the whales on steemit directly for them to speak to these 2 fraudsters and tell them to stop. Not a word was said in one year and now he is resorting to further action. The abuse will stop. If you have any information as to the identity or whereabouts of BernieSanders or Pfunk please contact abuse@steem.in. There is a substantial reward and you can remain anonymous. Noganoo is unable to file a restraining order against these 2 until he finds their identity. BernieSanders is a pedophile and should not be rewarded with upvotes on Steemit.

First of all let's go back to before this all started. Noganoo was investigating the fraud and theft of 10s of millions of dollars of rewards by Donkeypong, Gavvet, HanshotFirst, Kevinwong, The-Alien, JrCornel, Sweetsssj and Knozaki2015 with their organization called "SteemGuild" where they used the Steemit Co-founder Ned's account to vote for themselves instead of the "minnows" they claimed to be supporting. Go look at all of their current account values and you can see that over 1 year ago Noganoo was right! They paid themselves multi-millions for only a couple months of curating on Steemit. Something the rest of us do for free. You can see that these people and their friends are the only people who have ever attacked Noganoo. They are trying to cover up their theft. If you go back on the blockchain you can see Noganoo's accounts previously supported most of these authors with his thousand bot voters early on in the platforms launch. https://steemd.com/@sweet-banana?page=17 Then Noganoo called out The-Alien for his common use of the word "Motherfucker" in his fiction stories that were upvoted by their "Steemguild" to number one on trending every day to "raise money for the guild." Fact is they stole millions of dollars. This rebuke prevented Noganoo from ever getting an upvote from that guild which controlled over 30% of the voting power on Steemit at the time.

Yes! Thank you! This would be very useful to many bloggers. Steemit is a wonderful platform but it is not as big as Wordpress. However, as someone else pointed out, would that affect the policies on Steemit - to be original and post content on Steemit first? Or is just that a misconception?

I mean, if we were to copy-paste an article word by word from Wordpress (or post it via a plugin), could that make our posts consider as plaigarised?

I think those things are not implemented yet. - But you're right in the long run it would be great to have a Disqus like wordpress plugin that works with steem as backend.

For now if you put more than 5 tags it'll simply not work :D (beta sotfwaaare). But in the v1 we'll take the first 5 tags yeah.

A complete wordpress integration is long term, but yes, it's planned.

Update : We now take the 5 first tags :)

This will absolutely allow the steem blockchain to increase it's reach and will help with onboarding a lot of bloggers who are already active. This will bring in not just the bloggers themselves but a percentage of their audience.

I think it's very important for your plugin to get onto the official WordPress repository and for all of us who have WordPress websites to go and give it a five star review. In this way anybody who is checking out the plugins available in the monetization section could organically discover the steem blockchain and its power. Of course, the pluging page should have very clear explanation about what the steem blockchain is and how it can benefit any WordPress site that produces original content.

Yes, I would like to know that too. Being a non-computer user, most of what was said above sounded like I should understand it, but I'm pretty sure I don't. When I think I know what wordpress is, and then try to explain, I don't know. I don't consider myself that dumb, but for thirty years I always had a junior or secretary to do this computer stuff, and I can barely use my Android phone, ai ¿
This us why I'm going on in many comments about indexing. With indexing, anyone at any level of tech, might find or research out, of present tags, or archives, just the post that gels with their level of understanding.

I had started some work on a wordpress plugin for steemit few weeks back - GK Steemit Info: https://github.com/mcfarhat/GK-steemit-info

At the moment, it allows placing configurable widgets and shortcodes with some steemit info, including posts per user and steemit user count.

I still have future plans for it, but haven't had the time to work on it further.

Feel free to check it out, reuse the code or whatever helps you, and if you guys need any help feel free to reach out, I know a thing or two about wordpress :)

This is great! I have a blog that I would like linked to Steemit, but would not necessarily want everything I resteem on my Steemit to go to my Wordpress, so this seems the way to go.

Great idea. I do wonder about the duplicate content issue and the fact that introduces additional work such as writing the article twice.

Is there a feature where it can just share a custom excerpt of text to Steemit and add the featured image as a clickable image linking to the original article URL?

It's a good idea, @howo. I think, there should be a WordPress plug in for the Steemit website. I am new to Steemit, but I've been on WordPress for a while.
I am writing on 2 blogs on the WordPress platform. I believe, I will be able to do my writing work better, with the capability to republish my WordPress articles on the Steemit platform. But, I may have to upgrade the site, to be able to install the plug in, I mean, before the development process is completed.

I installed a plugin which promised to do stuff like posting old and new posts on Steem blockchain. I tried but it didn't work. It's been 7 months that I have been inactive on my personal WordPress blog (ilyastarar.com) and that is because I am on Steemit for the last 7 months.

This plugin promises to bring my blog back to life without compromising my Steemit goals so I am big on this one! Thank you and good luck! I will try it and give feedback.

but there is a problem some spammers are flagging our posts because we are promoting our websites in our posts and these persons are continuesly flaging our post because they told this is spam but i give the proof about ownership of website to steem but steemit team not helping us check my blogg @themarkymark is the main person who are flaging all those peolpe who are ading there websites link in his post please help us about this pbm

What about an option to post on WP blog 7 or 8 days after it is published to Steemit?

Perhaps it helps to add our Steemit names on each of our Wordpress blogs and to add a Link of the Wordpress article on the Steemit article. I tried this twice and had no reactions of cheetah any more. In both cases I improved an old narration which I had written under another name before. A fellow Steemian told me it might be safer to quote the with text with the symbol >

I'm confused here. I know lots of people who do as I do and copy and paste our articles from our website blogs into Steemit. I've never been flagged. Why would I? It is my own original work. My url is also my steemit username. Maybe that is why I am not flagged....

If you publish to your blog and Steemit at the same time, then Cheetah can't use the search engine to determine if you used your blog as the source, because it won't be there yet.

However, Cheetah has said there is a way to keep him from tagging your own blog.

Doing steemit to WordPress does not solve the problems we want to address and does little to onboard new users.
If a significant amount of original authors start to use the tool then it will be cheetah that has to adapt, not SteemPress. How they do it is up to them, but I can imagine a whitelist people can get on whereby proving that they own both the steem account and the blog website, cheetah will ignore the domain of their blog when searching for duplicates.

A somewhat simple solution to that would be some tag in permalink when posting through steempress that would identify such an article and skip cheetah and steemcleaners check.

like a tag to your username on steemit

Sadly this wouldn't work because nothing prevents a spammer from manually adding whatever steempress adds. The effort has to come from cheetah.

That is what we had with @recrypto's plugin. We entered the permalink as part of filling out what tags we wanted to use and other information that was relevant to Steemit.

I can't see the necessity of embeding an orthodox content manager with a totally new concept like steemit.
Steem has made its own way to merge content with blockchain idea. Let's stay innovative

Being leader is good and being the innovator is best thing. This plugin will persuade those already established influencers to have one more channel and steemit community benefit from onboarding new people.

Similar to cheetah the google robot will also punish duplicate/plagiarized content. So google will decide which website is more likely the original author. One way to do it is what content they discovered first.

So in order not to loose your owns blog organic traffic (steemit will be visited more frequently by google robots as most Wordpress blogs) I suggest a setting where users can set a delay time. Let’s say after publishing on the blog the plugin will post to steemit 12 hours later. Should be easy to implement.

This is from a SEO (search engine optimization) point of view quite relevant. Let me know if you need help or need more information on this issue.

Nonsense. There are a standard Wordpress plugins for Google, Instagram, etc. that have been around for years, just like for Joomla (which is what my website was for years until I switched to Wordpress). Google knows what they are. It is in their reference material for how to set it up so that Google knows it is really you. In fact, Instagram surprised me this last time by not posting my article until I went in Instagram and was asked was that me. I clicked on the button that said Yes, that was me. Then I had to go into Wordpress again and post for Instagram again and it worked. This is not all new stuff. I've been posting from my Website blog to social media for the past 7 years.

It makes more sense to distribute content from wordpress to all social media channels, SEO 101 builds links centralized to your site which can build traffic due to backlinks.

For me it should be a two way conversion. Users of WP can automatically convert to Steempress andSteem users can convert or link to wordpress will be the best way for both world.

Well, to be honest I actually think that even with Cheetah bot on the board right now, we can assure that everyone can post on the wordpress as on steemit in the same time which looks like a great opportunity here!
Im 100% sure that we will find out tons of people using this tool, however all is needed is to "avoid" cheetah somehow :) Obviously we need to wait for some time to see things going on like that, however I truly believe that we will see this plugin working totally well as soon as possible! Maybe they should give him the $1,000 bounty from this article as an inventive to keep working on it. Last I used it, it worked. I just wanted to be able to schedule my posts.

Well, it looks very promising but how to handle the duplicate content issue? The content will be duplicated on steemit as well as my blog. The problem is not just SteemCleaners and Cheetah bot but also the problem with Google Search Engine rankings of your site as well as Steemit site thinking a lot of duplicate content being lying for everyone. I am not an expert in the domain but with my little experience of running my blog for last 8 years, no one likes the duplicate content.

I love that this is being done to work specifically to both simplify for new people and long term members, I am excited that I get the change to be here while this site is still in it's infancy and be a part of it as it grows, I foresee this plug in becoming a standard part of the download in time, I think it is wonderful.

Deeeepends on a lot of factors, we try our best to mark the content on steemit as plagiarism so it won't hurt your own blog. In the long term we'll implement canonical urls which will solve the problem entirely.

I'm thinking of using this plug in but I guess I have to read reviews as well since there may be problems associated with this plug in. I was wondering about Cheetah as well. I have a blog with over 100,000 unique visits a month and I post two to three times a week. If it was not frowned upon it would be great to auto post stuff from my blog to Steemit. However, I also wonder about SEO and the duplicate posts happening extremely close hurting my site.

Thank you for the WP Plug in. My question is, does the plug-in allow us to choose "all" posts, "tags" or "categories" to publish to Steem? For example, I have a category for "status" which is where I post Twitter like comments. Then I have other categories for true "blogging". I would not necessarily want "all" posts to be copied to Steem, but just certain categories.. or even make a Steem category to copy here. I look forward to the answer! I am really excited about this plugin, I love Wordpress and the ability to syndicate to Steemit will open up a host of opportunities such as allowing bloggers to post to Steemit using Wordpress's robust post scheduling feature, and even via email and desktop apps like blogdesk.

Had a few teething problems whichh is to be expected with any beta, but I contacted @howo on Steem chat and he pushed a new plugin version within minutes of me contacting him that had built in tests to find out what was causing the problem. Nice guy and great support, can't wait for V1 to be released! :)

I chose to start my blog on Steemit. I am new so have only published 3 posts as I learn the Steemit system. One area of concern is that on each post I link to an email address and my wordpress blog address. Is that not recommended??? Also, I have a wordpress site set up but have not posted to it yet. Duplicate content is a non no for SEO. I am trying to figure out whether to copy my blog posts to my wordpress site 4 weeks after they appear on Steem and re-write some of the content so it does not appear duplicated. This system aims to work the other way round and definately worth a deeper understanding before committing to posting first on wordpress. I will follow this and as I learn more. Thank you

As a successful blogger with a large audience in multiple niches I am intrigued, but I also have concerns. First, I worry about duplicate content hurting the SEO of my sites. Given that steemit does not monetarily reward evergreen content, I am not inclined to let my best evergreen items be published twice. Especially not in close time to each other. Someone in comments suggested a time delay, but even that bothers me since I think the size of steemit could still cause outranking. Right now, I am publishing a niche here that does not fit well on my main blogs or I am rewriting my old content. Next, I am concerned about all the plagiarism bots. I don’t want to get flagged. Finally, I have multiple niches. Until steemit does something to let publishers categorize by topic, I don’t want to flood my blog here with stuff from a ton of different niches.

We are still thinking about how to alleviate this issue. Delayed posts, cannonical urls, backlinks, we'll see but I'm confident that it will be sorted out.

Like a lot of people here apparently ! I think it's not an issue, all of these people have whitelists and if you start using steempress and notify them, I'm fairly sure you won't get flagged, I mean they act for the good of steem to avoid spam. They wouldn't go against actual original creators coming to steem.

Yeah it's an issue that's been here for a long time on steemit. In the future we'll implement some filter functions on SteemPress so you can choose one category and post only articles from this one. But yeah unless we setup a system where you could post each category in one different steem blog, it'll be hard to fix it on our side.

I definitely think some delayed posting options would be good. And cannonicals and/or backlinks would help.

Steem has made its own particular manner to consolidate content with blockchain thought. we should remain creativ.!

This will be a great way to onboard new and active users. Fantastic work @howo and @fredrikaa!

Simplified overview of STEEM and Steemit.
1. Rig the distribution process so that you end up with almost all of the STEEM supply.
2.Create a platform that allows for the monetization of content.
3.Make sure certain users get extravagant payouts to lure in more users (the payout is a tiny fraction when compared to how much STEEM you and your friends own).
4. As more people are lured in, STEEM becomes more ‘valuable’, resulting in those who own majority of the supply getting rich along with the select few they choose.

Ah it's a problem that we've seen with a few people, you're probably on a shared host that won't let you connect our steem server. We are working on it and it should be fixed for the v1.

I did have a question though around duplicate content and getting dinged with your SEO page ranking. From what I understand, Steem is a platform that can be crawled by Google/Bing/other search engines. If that is the case, would cross publishing to Steemit actually hurt your main blog's SEO? If so, would you think it's worth it to put a canonical URL in your blog pointing to the Steemit post as being authoritative, or do you think it just wouldn't matter? Would love to hear your thoughts around this matter. Thanks!

Potentially, we've never actually noticed that. but in theory it might.

No don't do that, if you put a canonical link on your main blog pointing to steem then you basically nuke your blog saying "steem is the original link, point to them instead of me". What we need going the other way around, canonical and backlinks on steem.

For now there is no support for canonical links on steemit/busy etc. So but I am working on a new standard so it'll be implemented.

For now we'll add a backlink, which will be added in the v1 release.

But I i have one more suggestion: Let that self-referencing canonical tag be there in the WordPress post. But we can post 1st 100 words excerpt on steemit and link back to original WordPress blog post URL.

Okay this is just a random thing and I know this post is old but @howo how about not using steemit at all, maybe busy or steemspeak would allow a canonical link? Fact is, the post is going to display and get crawled on several interfaces. The content is not really duplicated on steemit busy steemspeak etc. Google just thinks every site is centralized. So it will always be dozens of displays of every steem article, and sill yet all of the blockchain sites still have great seo. I don't think it's much of an issue for seo, but if adding canonical, it may be easier to get other interfaces to add a canonical than steemit?

I dislkike any idea of using steem with external plugins. This platform is made to be the platform itself and there is no reason to access it from any other source. steem will evolve over time and overcome any other application!

I don't see why everything can't coexist, Steem is a very good token, wordpress and cie excel at making great blogs, it would be way better to work together rather than try to go to war with them, especially since they have this much advance.

It would be too easy to cheat cheetah if it worked that way, but there is a whitelist, and I'm convinced that if you prove ownership of the blog, there you can get added on it.

Why is that important? The best way to spread Steem would be to allow content (text, images and video) and comments to be written onto the blockchain rewards to be awarded on other sites and apps. That happens on Dtube and others but these sites are only for Steemians because you have to work to be one.

As for cheetah we don't think it'll be a problem if you reach to them to get into their whitelist.

Oops, it looks like the cite tag was changed a while back. You are correct about cross-domain canonical links. Hopefully this will avoid duplicate content penalties. If you can, including that in the benefits of your service and in the FAQ should help with signing up bloggers.

Steempress looks great! As to the upvote/commenting, I started looking at SMTs. I'm working on an app that I want to allow users to post pictures and have upvotes/comments integrated into the Steem environment to be able to earn for their engagement. Am I looking in the right place?

But my host is not preventing the connection. Any thoughts on what to try?

You are probably on a shared hosting, It's a security that's not in your control that's preventing you from reaching our servers, I did a few tries with some people who had the same issues and found a fix which will hopefully work for everyone, the fix will be delivered with the v1 which should come very soon :)

Ah, so happy this is being developed. I just started digging into steem over the last couple weeks and as a wordpress designer/builder i see SO MUCH potential for a proper steem-WP integration.

I'd love to share a bit about where i can see this headed, beyond simply auto-posting WP posts to Steem.

Where I think this can truly shine is in integrating Steemconnect to the WP userbase, so people can automatically sign up and in with their steem credentials. With SMTs and the upcoming steem widgets, we could then easily replace WP comments with Steem comments, and even add upvote buttons to specific bits of WP content.

Beyond a blogging platform, I primarily use WP for building app-like experiences where people are logged in. For example, WP-based online courses could benefit from this greatly.

Another thing thats really great about WP is that we can go beyond mere blog posts and create highly customized interactive content/experiences. How amazing would it be to be able to add an upvote button to a WP page or piece of content? For example, here's a WP experience I created last year: https://coursesworthsharing.com - being able to integrate experiences like this with steem would be a godsend.

I'm sure there are some big techincal hurdles to this, especially when it comes to integrating steem users w/ WP users, but i cant see why this isnt all possible.

It would just be so awesome to be able to embed upvote buttons, comment areas, etc anywhere you want via shortcodes.

There's so much value and creativity that can be harnessed with WP sites that goes way above and beyond simple blog posts. I'd love to contribute to getting this type of content cooperating with steem in any way I can.

I really hope the proceeds of this post will go towards making the plugin [edit] fully working. You can't set any tags (other than default for all posts). There is no switch in pages or posts creation to stop auto posting, to change rewards settings, or anything else. [edit]tiny bit disappointed, can't wait for the next update.

Because it's a beta, this is mostly here to gather a lot of experience to improve the converter, if you look at the post you see that all of this will be here for the v1, heck, I've already coded the tags and reward settings, and if you want to stop auto posting you can just desactivate the plugin.

You are doing really well. Not sure if I got it right, seems you have started from scratch, this isn't same as a previous version.. That that had switchs to post or not to steemit, (pages and posts). Will continue to check it out and test, no worries and many thanks for doing this - I should say, I sincerely look forward to seeing it's completion :) .

It seems good to me, the idea is to have variety, and although steemit is an innovative platform it is good to be able to offer a range of options.

We had a plug-in from @recrypto for wordpress-steem. It worked wonderfully for months. Then after a couple of wordpress updates it quit working. Many of us left comments for @recrypto but he has not responded. I only bring this up because that means some functional base code was working until updates on wordpress killed it. So seems a shame to reinvent some of the code AND you need to be aware of the wordpress updates. I have an established online store and blog on my website. I use plug-ins to post my articles to Twitter, Instagram and Google+ (I closed down my Facebook account years ago). I was thrilled to post them on Steemit. Today I have to copy and paste and upload photos. If Steemit goes the other way instead (Steemit blog posts to wordpress), then I also would need the ability to post from Steemit to Twitter, Instagram and Google+. If Steemit wants to be prominent in this space, then I would also need to have my online store on Steemit. Wordpress integrates all these for my website. I don't see Steemit as being my website. Do you?

Okay I have installed the plugin to my blog. I don't understand how to get the content from my blog onto steemit. Do I just post to my blog like I normally would and it automatically posts to steemit? Please help.

thanks for this great plugin. the recent updates 1.3 and 1.4 today introduced very good new features. as a suggestion to further improve, i would recommend the feature to edit the steemit tags in a separate field close to your wordpress tags. so you have more control over this without changeing the plugin settings.

I've been using this plugin, I love it, but I've been finding that it doesn't integrate well with the Busy.org platform. It seems to work well with Steemit, though. I find in Busy, it rearranges things, especially pics. Often it creates symbols in paragraphs that shouldn't be there.

Wow, that plugin looks promising! First of all: thanks so much for putting in the effort. I have one question regarding google.
I know that Google is downgrading the SEO value of my website if the crawler find identical content on other sites... It's the "duplicate content" issue that stresses out many bloggers and creators. I wanted to know how the plugin handles this?

The delay feature allow you to publish first on your blog and then publish to steem after a few days/hours/minutes (you decide the delay). Which means that google and other search engines will index your blog first and tag steemit.com as a duplicate. So your blog's seo ranking won't be hurt.
We recommend a 7 days delay for maximum security.

I've installed the plugin and I'm getting the following message:
Connectivity to the steem server : Connection error
Most likely your host isn't letting the plugin reach our steem server.

I would love to use this plugin but can't afford to pay for the WordPress business plan. Currently I manually copy over the content
